Call It Bad, Call It Good
Feb. 22nd, 2026 11:12 pmAfter being down so long, with a sudden single message, the network seemed to be working again!
Seemed.
Oh the message came through. To every single phone on the Auradon network. That it went off at about two in the morning and probably woke people up...
But that might be okay if it meant that the Network was up again, right? Probably. And it was up again. Sort of. It was a good news bad news sort of situation.
The good news was that people could reach out on the Network again! And even better, this included people on the Isle! The Isle was now properly set up with the ragged dark web being folded into the main network. All good, right?
Well here was the bad news... The Network workedish. For the moment there were some interesting glitches. Private messages might go to the wrong person... or to everyone. Messages could wind up delayed or come in out of order. Some messages might send while in the middle of being typed or recorded. The Network might randomly activate the phone's camera at any time and just start recording someone. And who knew to whom that would be sent! Messages could suddenly be filled with gifs or spam emojis. Oh and people's ringtones will constantly change. Text messages used to make a soft gentle chime? Hope you wanted to hear an hour loop of Be Our Guest or maybe even Something more... potentially annoying.
All sorts of glitches and errors, even for people who normally ignore their phones. Or who have lost them. Some of the new ringtones might make finding them again both easier and imperative.
These issues will get better and worse throughout the next few weeks, ending on March 17th when one final bug will turn everyone's text green and fill messages with 3 leaf clovers if they are sending from the Isle and 4 leaf ones if sending from Auradon.
In before the FAQ:
"My character is on the Isle and didn't get a phone yet..."
You can go ahead and presume Ian gave them one, or left them one in the room.
"Our characters can't control who sees their message or we the players can't?"
The characters have no functional control, but the players of course still have agency. So things like thread jacking can happen but only if all players agree OOC. (The exception is the chaos thread which will be an open free for all.)
"Wait, Chaos thread?!"
Yep! There will be a chaos thread as a top level from Ian's post where anyone can reply and that reply can be seen by anyone and people can reply to each other's reply. Replies can be video, voice, or text. Or broken spam message full of gifs and emojis.
"So about these gifs and emojis...."
Please remember that game rules still apply, so swears are still auto-censored and triggers still need to be respected. This goes for linked song lyrics and words written on gifs or still images, and emojis. Also please be considerate of things like rapidly flashing gifs and page stretching images.
"What about the Chaos Thread with regards to if you post multiple characters to a thread they all either post in the same post or space them out?"
For the Chaos post, that is held in abeyance. Spam it with all the journals you have in game if you wish. Spam it in general. Spam it like it is a Monty Python song. Or your inbox. Have fun with it!
"My character lacks thumbs or other ways to properly interact with a phone...."
It can fall, they can use a toe, or it could just start recording on its own. They might not be able to do text, but other from that, be creative and have fun!
"What about anon messages"
Feel free to have anon break or auto activate in the most fun and unhinged ways....
"Wait, I still have another question!"
Cool! Drop it in a message below!
