This event will see characters both current and potential thrown together in a huge shared dreamworld. And being a dream world, things are bound to get weird. How weird? Well, that's largely up to the participants.

The event will run from September 3rd through September 18th. All current characters from both the Isle and Auradon will be affected, and since it's a 4th wall event, any other characters who would be eligible to app in the main game can also participate, treating the event as a sort of TDM (hence why it's on the TDM page). The log will remain up on the TDM page even after the event has concluded, so backtagging is perfectly allowable. Threads with characters who first tag into the log during the duration of the event then app before the event ends may be considered game canon if the involved players wish. All threads started during the duration of the event featuring current characters and NPCs are all considered game canon as well. However, any threads begun after the end of the event will be treated as non-canon TDM threads. And do keep in mind that all relevant game rules are still in effect in this event.

The dreamworld's landscape is chaotic and ever shifting, but it's also affected by the people in it. Each participating character will bring up three 'chunks' of landscape with them: one from wherever they were before the start of the event, one from a familiar place from their memory, and one from whatever place they consider to be 'home'. Any of these can overlap, however, and it's not necessary to list out/otherwise state what specific places each character is bringing in. Unless you want to, in which case, hey, be our guest. Put our service to the... wait, no, wrong song.

The event will begin with all the characters falling asleep wherever they happened to be. Yes, even if a character normally doesn't/can't sleep they'll fall asleep - or a reasonable facsimile there of - for this event. Thankfully, the magic picked a time when the characters weren't doing something that would make suddenly falling asleep inherently dangerous - such as driving or being in the middle of a fight - to make them take their enforced nap, but otherwise, where the characters were and what they were doing at the time is completely up to the player. And while the event runs for just over 2 weeks OOC time, and time in the dreamworld is as vague as time in dreams always is, in the character's physical worlds only 8 hours will have passed. Those in Auradon will wake up feeling refreshed after 8 hours of good sleep (minus any stiff necks and such that come from falling asleep in odd positions). Those on the Isle will wake up feeling groggy and uncomfortable after 8 hours of poor to mediocre sleep. And any characters brought in for the 4th wall event will find that their 8 hours of sleep were about average for them, whatever that may be.

Characters appearances in the dreamworld will be based around however they see themselves. For some, this might mean reverting to an iconic outfit. For others this might mean appearing in their physical prime despite their actual age. Or it could be more negative, such as a character who views themself unrealistically negatively appearing ugly or ragged. Really it's up to the player. Feel free to have fun with it, so long as the game's rules are kept in mind.

Will someone know who other dreamers are if they met before?

Maybe, maybe not. That's between the players in any given thread, and probably will come down to how well they know each other and how realistically each sees themselves.

Will my character's powers work in the dreamworld?

Yes, though maybe not how they intended. Logic and physics are somewhat out to lunch, given that it's a dream. For example, a spell to create a fireball might generate actual fire, or it might cause it to start raining cinnamon candies. Try to summon a magical spirit or familiar, and it might work, or you might get a random plushie version of them. Again, have fun with it, just keep the game's rules in mind.

Can characters take things from the dreamworld back to the physical world?

Sadly no. The only thing characters can take back with them from the dreamworld is their memories. And maybe not even those! However any objects they had on their person at the time of falling asleep may come with them to the dreamworld at the player's discretion.

Can my character get hurt/die in the physical world if something happens to them in the dreamworld?

No. Any injuries sustained in the dreamworld will fade upon entering a new 'chunk' of terrain. Anything that would result in the character's death in the physical world will simply cause them to fade out and reappear back at the point where they originally arrived in the dreamworld. They might eventually wake up scared, but they'll be physically unharmed by their foray into dreamland. On the reverse, any injuries or illnesses a character might be carrying in the physical world may or may not continue to affect them in the dreamworld; that we leave up to player discretion.

Similarly, characters will not feel hungry, thirsty, or tired while in the dream world. Any food or drink found there can be safely consumed, but is subject to the same chaotic logic as the landscape. Will that chocolate bar taste like a chocolate bar? Like an artichoke? Like beef stew? Like nothing at all? It's up to you, really.

How big are the 'chunks' of terrain? Are they any particular shape?

They vary in size and their exact borders change shape along with everything else. But in general they can range anywhere from about 10 meters to 100 meters in area (roughly the size of a room at the smallest to the size of a US football field at the largest).

My character would rather not get involved with all this dreamworld weirdness.

They'll still be swept up in it like everyone else, but they're perfectly welcome to just find a spot and chill out til the event ends. The area a meter or two in any direction around a character is fairly stable so long as they're standing/sitting/laying still, so opting not to participate is fairly easy, even if it might be rather boring from the character's perspective. Or they could just have fallen asleep with everyone else but have a dreamless sleep.

Can my characters intentionally affect the dreamworld in any way?

If they're familiar with techniques for lucid dreaming, or sufficiently strong willed, they may be able to stabilize certain chunks of terrain. However this will only work if the character stays within that terrain chunk; if they move to another one, they'd have to start all over again.

Is there anything in the dreamworld outside of those 'chunks' of terrain?

The base of the dreamworld is a vaguely defined golden space hung with colorful draperies. Characters may find their way into it by accident or on purpose, but trying to wander too far into it will inevitably result in stumbling into another terrain chunk. There's really not much to see there, anyway.

What happens if my character is in game at the end of the event, but someone they threaded with isn't?

That part of the dream will be really hard to remember when the character awake, and will fade quickly until all that is left with is a vague feeling, if that.

Do characters have to remember the dreams if the other character(s) is(are) in game?

Absolutely not. Player's choice how much, if anything, characters remember upon waking.

Will the characters know it is a dream while they are dreaming?

Up to you! What will be the most fun or you to play?
